Intrigue Hair and Makeup

It’s not every day you see a top class fashion parade in a little country winery.

But at the 2015 Seppelt Wedding Expo, be prepared for some couture culture from the region’s finest!

Organisers have teed up two fashion parades this year, showcasing this season’s bridal wear and smart suits for the lads. Local Josephine Beats from Intrigue Hair and Makeup will be styling the hair and makeup for the first time ever and we can’t wait to see what she comes up with!

Jo’s no stranger to the catwalk, primping lines of models with her signature look, as well as preparing them according to brief for commercial shoots and, of course, a multitude of stunning weddings.

After you’ve swooned over ‘the perfect’ dress at the expo’s fashion shows, you can chat with wedding experts from across the Grampians Pyrenees at their exhibits and ask questions about what they can do for you.

The winery’s cellar door will also be open, so you can grab a bite to eat and even dabble in a bit of wine tasting. Sounds like a good day out in the country, so grab ‘the crew’ and head up the highway!

The expo will be held from 11am to 3pm.

nakedcakePlanning a wedding these days can be quite overwhelming.

You just need to spend 30 seconds on Pinterest and you’re mind boggles into a thousand different creative directions. The sea of wedding styling possibilities is infinite, but our time and budgets are necessarily not.

That’s why you need to grab your partner (yes, they need to be involved too) and head along to the annual Seppelt Wedding Expo on Sunday, May 24.

You’ll get to meet a whole bunch of wedding experts from the Grampians Pyrenees region who know what’s trending, but most importantly, what will suit your personality and budget. And, at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about: celebrating your special day with elements that make you…you. Now doesn’t that feel like a load off your shoulders already?

Amongst the exhibitors will be local cake maker Sharon Frost of ‘Frost and Fondant Celebration Cakes’. She’s all over what’s trending in wedding cakes this year, varying from simple, single flower toppers to blackboard cakes (yes, I’m intrigued too) and chandelier cakes (wowsers).

Sharon will also be unveiling three exciting cake packages to suit different budgets: standard (1-2 tiers with simple decorations), classic 1-3 tier cake with ribbon, hand-made edible flowers and piping and couture (edible flowers and decorations and bling!).

Another local cake baker and decorator to appear at the Seppelt Wedding Expo will be Jodie Hucker from JD Cakes, based in Lake Bolac. She’s famous for her delicious mud cakes and her fresh spin on flavors like red velvet, lemon and orange cakes; increasingly popular with bridal couples who are breaking tradition.

The expo will be held from 11am to 3pm.

“The Grampians Wedding Directory site is a ‘one – stop – shop’ for sourcing all things wedding! Personally, I found it made what can be a stressful time, quite fun; sourcing my photographer, reception function room and event stylist Kim from Allure Wedding and Event Hire for seating and decorations. When we think of Alisha Ellis’s floral styling, the words dreamy, romantic, contemporary and artistic immediately come to mind.

Her flowers aren’t just a pretty adornment for a bride and her attendants, they are pieces of art that complement the entire theme of the day; either in a dramatic or subtle way.

Alisha’s work is seamless because she takes the time to get to know her bride and groom and grasp the wedding concept they are aiming to achieve. Not only does this mean creating bouquets and buttonholes, but wedding ceremony, reception and cake flowers too, as well as stunning hair pieces.

Grampians photographer and GWD member, Kerri Kingston captured these beautiful photos of bride, Claire at Seppelt Winery recently.

The white gown, against a crisp, white background of one of Seppelt’s newest bridal rooms, provided the inspiration for a dramatic photo.

The bride takes some final moments to reflect on her special day, whilst the photographer perfectly documents the glamour, poise and total beauty of the moment.

Grampians Wedding Directory member, cake maker Sharon Frost has won three international awards in the past 12 months for her cake creations.

Sharon is one of 900 cake makers from around the world who are part of the ‘Cake Page Circle’, on online forum through Facebook where members share knowledge and expertise.

The group runs weekly competitions throughout the year, with different themes. Members vote on the cake entries, considering design, style, composition, skill and technique.

In August last year, Sharon won first prize in the ‘Female (Child) Birthdays 5 years and Under’ category for her three-tier mini cake and also came third in the ‘Male (Child) Birthdays 5 years and Under’ section for her 3D Yellow Minion cake.  And, in December 2014, Sharon won a Merit Award for her Snow Globe Christmas Cake in the ‘Blue/Winter Cake’ category.

“The competitions generate a lot of passionate, positive discussion within our very talented group,” says Sharon. “To be recognised for three of my cakes by cake experts from around the world is very exciting and encouraging.”
