Noel & Melissa win GWD/Mercure competition

New bride and groom Noel and Melissa Davis from Jeparit have won the latest GWD/Mercure Horsham competition.

Married at Grampians Pioneer Cottages on November 19 this year, Noel and Melissa have been together for 14 years. Their 13-year-old daughter Madison was bridesmaid and 11-year-old son Liam was best man. Family and friends contributed to almost all aspects of the day such as photography and catering, making it an extra special occasion.

The night away at Mercure Horsham will be a ‘mini honeymoon’ for the happy couple, as Noel, being a truck driver, had to start duties during harvest immediately after the wedding.

“Robert Webb at Grampians Pioneer Cottages was amazing. His support, guidance and friendliness made our wedding planning all that much more easier.” – Melissa Davis.

Anna and James Davies

Anna and James Davies from Eltham were married on February 26, 2011 at Grampians Pioneer Cottages.

They wanted a ceremony and reception that were relaxed, outdoors, Australian and ‘earthy’. The property’s beautiful backdrop “left a few jaws agape” according to Anna!

The Grampians is a sentimental place for the couple, which had its first weekend away together at Grampians Pioneer Cottages. A year later, they stayed there again and James proposed on top of Mount William.

Most of the wedding guests stayed at the cottages and at nearby accommodation. Linda Handscombe from Grampians Everlastings created the stunning native flower bouquets.

“I gave Linda artistic freedom – since she’s the expert – and she exceeded all expectations,” said Anna. “We still get comments ¬†about how beautiful the flowers were.”

Anna made her own wedding cake and Linda made the flower topper. Amanda Stevens from Didjun Skin and Body did the girls’ make-up. Their trusty ring-bearer was ‘Ned the Dog’.

“Amanda was so easy to deal with; professional, friendly and competent. I felt like I was wearing minimal make-up although the effect was exactly what I’d wished for.”

Anna said that having everything in the one place was great and the views and cottages provided a really unique backdrop for the photos.

“There were so many textures for our photographer Jason Zorzut from Melbourne to work with,” she said “Property owner Robert Webb also spent a few hours clearing the ceremony site so I had a ‘stick free aisle’! He went above and beyond in the lead up to the wedding, and on the day.”

Anna and James honeymooned in Fiji and New Zealand.
